Passing at 36: Actor Darren Kent, Recognized for 'Game of Thrones' and 'Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' Roles
On Friday, the entertainment world mourned the loss of Darren Kent, a versatile actor celebrated for his appearances in "Game of Thrones," "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves," "EastEnders," and numerous other productions. The news of his passing was officially shared by his talent agency, Carey Dodd Associates, via a heartfelt Twitter statement on Tuesday.
The agency's message read, "With profound sorrow, we share the news of the peaceful passing of our cherished friend and client, Darren Kent, on Friday. His parents and closest companion were at his side. In this challenging moment, our thoughts and affection are with his family. Rest in peace, dear friend."
Hailing from Essex, Kent's journey began at Italia Conti, where he graduated in 2007. He made his mark in the entertainment industry with his notable role in the 2008 horror film "Mirrors." His acting repertoire extended to an episode of "Game of Thrones," portraying a goatherd in Slavers Bay, and his most recent portrayal involved a reanimated corpse in the 2023 movie "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves."
Among his diverse credits are performances in "Snow White and the Huntsman," "Marshal’s Law," "Bloody Cuts," "The Frankenstein Chronicles," "Blood Drive," "Les Misérables," "Green Fingers," "EastEnders," "Happy Hours," "Love Without Walls," and "Birds Sorrow."
Kent's achievements also encompassed an impressive accolade — he secured the best actor title at the 2012 Van D’or Awards for his role as Danny, a young boy grappling with a rare skin condition that confined him from sunlight exposure, in the film "Sunny Boy." In a poignant parallel to his character, Kent courageously faced his own battle with a skin disorder, in addition to osteoporosis and arthritis. Beyond his acting prowess, he displayed his talent as a writer and director, highlighted by his work on the 2021 short film "You Know Me," which merited him a January Award.
